Frequently asked questions.

ABOUT ME & MY CARE

What exactly is a PA, and how do they help with women’s health?

PA stands for Physician Associate or Physician Assistant. PAs are nationally certified, state-licensed medical providers trained to diagnose conditions, evaluate symptoms, order and interpret lab work, and prescribe medications — including hormone therapy and weight loss.

In women’s health, PAs play a key role in identifying hormone imbalance, supporting women through perimenopauseand menopause, addressing thyroid concerns, and guiding overall midlife wellness and metabolic health. At my clinic in Columbia, Maryland, I provide comprehensive hormone evaluations and personalized treatment for women who want a deeper, more integrative approach to care.

What is health and wellness coaching, and how is it different from regular medical care?

Health and wellness coaching is a collaborative, supportive process that helps you create sustainable lifestyle changes — such as improving sleep, balancing nutrition, moving your body intentionally, and reducing stress.

While medical care focuses on diagnosing and treating conditions, coaching focuses on behavior change, mindset, and daily habits that support long-term hormone balance and overall wellbeing. It works beautifully alongside medical treatment and allows you to feel more empowered in your own health journey.

What makes your approach different from other providers?

At Jett Wellness & Hormone Clinic, my approach is different because I combine the depth of functional medicine with the structure of evidence-based primary care. Instead of focusing on symptoms alone, I look at hormone balance, metabolic health, thyroid function, gut health, inflammation, stress resilience, and the root causes that contribute to how you feel.

I offer prescription and bioidentical hormone therapy, herbal and nutritional support, peptide therapy when appropriate, functional lab testing, and weight-loss medications when they’re safe and indicated. Wellness coaching is also part of my approach, helping you make personalized, sustainable lifestyle changes that support your hormones and overall health.

This is whole-person, individualized care — designed specifically for women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and other midlife hormone concerns.

Who do you typically work with?

I primarily work with women in their 40s, 50s, and beyond who are navigating hormone imbalance, perimenopause, menopause, or other midlife changes. Many of my clients come to me with symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, anxiety, mood shifts, sleep problems, brain fog, low libido, thyroid concerns, or gut issues — especially when they’ve been told their labs are “normal” but still don’t feel well.

At Jett Wellness & Hormone Clinic, I specialize in helping women understand their hormones, restore balance, and feel like themselves again through individualized care, functional medicine testing, bioidentical hormone therapy, nutrition support, and wellness coaching.

CARE, TESTING & TREATMENT

What should I expect at my first visit?

Your first visit is a 90-minute, comprehensive hormone and wellness evaluation. I take the time to understand your full health story — including your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, current medications, supplements, and any prior lab results.

When needed, I also perform a physical exam and begin mapping out a personalized treatment plan that addresses hormone imbalance, perimenopause or menopause symptoms, thyroid issues, gut health, and overall metabolic wellness. This appointment sets the foundation for your long-term care at Jett Wellness & Hormone Clinic in Columbia, Maryland.

What symptoms do you help with?

I treat a wide range of symptoms, including:

  • hot flashes & night sweats

  • anxiety, irritability, mood swings

  • fatigue or burnout

  • weight gain or metabolic slowdown

  • insomnia or disrupted sleep

  • low libido

  • brain fog or memory issues

  • gut health problems

  • thyroid imbalance

  • perimenopause & menopause symptoms

  • persistent symptoms despite normal labs

If it’s affecting your wellbeing, I help you uncover the root cause.

Do you offer bioidentical hormones?

Yes — I offer FDA-approved bioidentical hormone therapy, including estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid support when appropriate. Bioidentical hormones can help stabilize perimenopause and menopause symptoms and support long-term hormone balance.

Do you offer pellet therapy?

Yes — I offer hormone pellet therapy for women who want a long-lasting, low-maintenance option for hormone replacement. Pellets are tiny, customized bioidentical hormones placed just under the skin, where they release a steady, consistent dose over 3–4 months. This helps prevent the hormone ups and downs that can happen with creams, patches, or pills.

During your visit, we’ll discuss whether pellet therapy is right for your hormone goals, lifestyle, and medical history.

Do I need to stop my medications or supplements before starting care?

In most cases, you do not need to stop your current medications or supplements before beginning care. During your first visit, I review everything you’re taking — including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, herbs, and functional supplements — to make sure they’re safe, effective, and compatible with your hormone therapy or wellness plan.

If something needs adjusting due to interactions, dosing, or duplication, I’ll guide you through it. Otherwise, you can continue your usual routine.

How often will I see you?

Most women follow up every 2–3 months during the first six months as we adjust hormone therapy, review labs, and monitor your progress. Once your hormones are stable, visits typically shift to twice a year, unless you need additional support.

If you’re also working with me for wellness coaching, nutrition, gut health, stress resilience, weight support, or thyroid management, we may meet a little more often — usually every 4–8 weeks, depending on your goals.

Your follow-up schedule is always personalized based on what you need, how you’re feeling, and the level of support that works best for you..

Do you work with women who aren’t in menopause yet?

Absolutely. I work with women at every stage of hormonal change — from early signs of imbalance to perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause. Many women begin experiencing symptoms like fatigue, mood swings, anxiety, irregular cycles, sleep issues, or weight changes years before menopause, and these early shifts are often overlooked or dismissed in traditional care.

You do not need to reach a certain age or stage to get support. Whether you're in your 20s, 30s, 40s, or beyond, I help you understand what's happening in your body, identify hormone patterns, and create a personalized plan to restore balance. Early evaluation can prevent symptoms from worsening and give you a clearer picture of your hormone, thyroid, and metabolic health long before menopause officially begins.

Can you help with thyroid issues?

Yes — thyroid health is a major part of the work I do. I help women with hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s, low thyroid function, subclinical thyroid issues, and cases where labs are “normal” but symptoms persist.

Thyroid problems can cause fatigue, weight gain, hair thinning, brain fog, anxiety, irregular cycles, constipation, and temperature changes — and many women are told it’s “just stress” or “just aging.”

At my clinic in Columbia, Maryland, I look deeper than standard TSH testing. I evaluate:

  • Free T3 and Free T4

  • Reverse T3

  • Thyroid antibodies (TPO & TgAb)

  • Cortisol and adrenal function

  • Nutrient levels that impact thyroid health

  • Gut health and inflammation

I combine this with your symptoms to build a personalized plan, which may include thyroid medication, lifestyle guidance, nutrient support, stress resilience strategies, and hormone balance work. My goal is to help you finally feel like yourself again.

Do you offer testing for food sensitivities, gut health, cortisol, or hormone metabolism?

Yes — I offer comprehensive functional medicine lab testing to better understand what’s happening beneath the surface. Depending on your symptoms and goals, I may recommend testing for food sensitivities, gut health, cortisol and adrenal stress, hormone metabolism, or nutrient deficiencies that may be affecting your hormones, thyroid, or metabolism.

Common testing options include:

  • DUTCH hormone testing (hormone levels + hormone metabolism)

  • Stool and gut microbiome analysis

  • Cortisol and adrenal stress profiles

  • Food sensitivity testing

  • Metabolic and inflammatory markers

  • Thyroid antibody and full thyroid panel

  • Micronutrient testing

We start with your existing lab work whenever possible, and then choose additional testing based on your symptoms. These deeper tests help us uncover the root causes of fatigue, weight gain, anxiety, sleep problems, perimenopause and menopause symptoms, gut issues, and hormone imbalance.

What if my labs are “normal,” but I still feel terrible?

This is incredibly common — and it’s one of the main reasons women come to see me. “Normal” does not always mean “optimal.” Many conventional lab ranges are broad and don’t account for early hormone changes, adrenal stress, thyroid conversion issues, or micronutrient deficiencies. If your labs look normal but your symptoms are significant, it usually means something deeper is going on that standard bloodwork didn’t identify.

I use expanded, functional testing and a symptom-based approach to look at hormone balance, thyroid function, cortisol patterns, gut health, inflammation markers, and nutrient status. This comprehensive view reveals what’s impacting your energy, mood, weight, sleep, and overall wellbeing — even when basic labs appear fine.

What is included in my treatment plan?

Your treatment plan is completely individualized and built around your symptoms, hormone patterns, medical history, and personal goals. No two women receive the same plan. Depending on what we uncover during your evaluation, your care may include:

  • Bioidentical hormone therapy (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone)

  • Thyroid optimization for hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s, or sluggish thyroid

  • Peptide therapy when appropriate

  • Nutrition and gut health support, including food sensitivities, inflammation, and digestion

  • Stress resilience and adrenal support

  • Weight and metabolic support, including medication if indicated

  • Sleep and mood optimization

  • Personalized supplement recommendations

  • Functional medicine testing (DUTCH, gut microbiome, cortisol, etc.)

  • Wellness coaching for sustainable lifestyle change

Your plan evolves over time as your hormones shift, symptoms improve, and goals change. The intention is to address root causes, restore balance, and help you feel like yourself again — not just manage symptoms.

LIFESTYLE, NUTRITION & EXPECTATIONS

Do I need to follow a specific diet?

No — there is no one “perfect” diet for every woman, and I don’t believe in strict, one-size-fits-all meal plans. Instead, we work together to create a personalized nutrition strategy that supports your hormones, thyroid, gut health, metabolism, energy, and inflammation levels.

Depending on your symptoms and goals, we may focus on:

  • balancing blood sugar to support energy and weight

  • reducing inflammatory foods that aggravate hormones and joints

  • supporting gut health and digestion

  • improving nutrient density for thyroid and adrenal function

  • ensuring adequate protein for muscle, metabolism, and menopause support

  • identifying food sensitivities that trigger bloating, fatigue, or brain fog

My goal is to help you create a way of eating that feels nourishing, sustainable, and supportive of your hormone balance—without rigid rules, guilt, or extreme restrictions..

Will the plan be strict?

No — your plan will not be strict. My approach is flexible, realistic, and designed to fit your life, not the other way around. Instead of rigid rules or extreme diets, we focus on sustainable habits that support your hormones, thyroid, metabolism, gut health, sleep, and stress levels.

We make changes gradually, based on what you’re ready for. This creates long-term results without burnout, frustration, or feeling deprived.

Do I have to exercise as part of my treatment?

No — you don’t have to follow a strict exercise program, and I will never push you into something that doesn’t feel realistic or supportive. Movement is important for hormone balance, thyroid function, metabolism, mood, and stress resilience, but it should be tailored to your energy levels and stage of life.

Together, we’ll find a style of movement that feels good — whether that’s walking, strength training, yoga, pilates, stretching, or simply increasing daily activity. The goal is to support your hormones, not overwhelm your nervous system with intense or inappropriate workouts. Sustainable, enjoyable movement is what truly helps women feel better long-term.
